Llantwit Major became a religious centre in the 5th Century after the arrival of the Breton - Saint Illtud. The font in this parish church is at least one thousand years old. The church took its present form during the 15th Century along with other noted properties in the same locality, such as the famous Town hall and The Old White Hart public house
