Holy Cross Church
Cowbridge
Vale of Glamorgan

Situated behind the former Cowbridge Grammar School, this ancient and beautiful Norman Churches welcomed worshippers and visitors for well over 700 years.

In 1985 the Church celebrated 500 years of the Charter of Richard III and there has been little alteration in its shape or structure since that time.

The unusual shape and size of the tower suggests that it had the dual function of being a watchtower and defensive structure in case of attack.

Holy Cross Church was enlarged in the 15th century when the South Aisle or Llanquian aisle was built, so named after the chapel at Llanquian which had fallen into disrepair
